Former communications director of the ruling New Patriotic Party and Managing Director of the State Transport Company (STC), Nana Akomea has advised both Alan and Bawumia to come together and run on a ticket going into the 2024 elections.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV hosted by Dr. Randy Abbey, the former MP said, it will be in the best interest of the party should the Vice President, Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia and the Trades and Industry minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng who have tipped as successors to President Akufo-Addo come together and contest as a Presidential candidate and his running mate ahead of the 2024 general elections.
The New Patriotic Party will have to elect a new flagbearer to represent them in the 2024 elections. Names like Dr. Bawumia, Alan Kyeremateng, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, Joe Ghartey, Boakye Agyarko have shown interest in occupying the highest seat of the land.
Ahead of this fierce internal battle, camps have already emerged and the power struggle has began.
The two probable winners of the contest are the Vice President and the Trades and Industry minister who has been part of the race since 2007. The fear of a heightened internal wrangling after the primaries have ignited a conversation for the two gentlemen who are all competent to occupy the position to come together and run on the ticket to break the eight.
The party is in Kumasi to have it's national delegates conference.
