Barcelona has been linked with a move for Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi. The Catalan giants have made the recruitment of an attacker a priority in January, since they are currently mired in an injury problem.
Mateu Alemany, Barcelona's football director, had a 'short communication' with Federico Pastorello, Bernardeschi's agent, according to AS. According to reports, Alemany and Pastorello discussed Bernardeschi's possible transfer to the Camp Nou next season.
Federico Bernardeschi joined Juventus from Fiorentina in a €40 million deal in the summer of 2017. The winger quickly established himself as a key element of Juventus' starting lineup. During his stay in Turin, he has helped the club win three Serie A crowns and two Coppa Italias. Bernardeschi has 164 appearances for Juventus in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and assisting 22 times. Since the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski from Atalanta last summer, the Italian has had to make do with a supporting role at Juventus.
This season, Bernardeschi has appeared in only nine of Juventus' seventeen Serie A games. As a result, the 27-year-old has been linked with a departure from the club. His current deal with the Bianconeri will finish at the end of the season.
Barcelona is in serious need of offensive reinforcements. Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati, and Martin Braithwaite are three of their forwards who have been ruled out owing to injuries. Sergio Aguero, their fourth striker, has retired from football after being diagnosed with heart arrhythmia. Xavi Hernandez is apparently looking to recruit two or three players to his squad during the January transfer window in order to improve its quality and depth. As he reaches the final six months of his contract, Barcelona could try to recruit Federico Bernardeschi for a discounted price from Juventus in January.
BARCELONA WILLING TO OFFER COUTINHO AS PART OF A SWAP DEAL
Barcelona is looking to add fresh players to their team in January. It will provide them the opportunity to revive their 2021-22 season in the second half of the season. Catalan giants Barcelona are also looking to sell or loan out peripheral players.
In recent weeks, Philippe Coutinho and Samuel Umtiti have been widely linked with moves away from the Camp Nou. Barcelona are keen to find a new home for Coutinho and Umtiti in January, according to sports journalist Javi Miguel. The World Cup-winning French defender has been linked with a move to Portuguese heavyweights Benfica. Barcelona is also considering offering Philippe Coutinho in the winter transfer market as a replacement for Federico Bernadeschi.
