Vice President, Dr. Mahmud Bawumia, has subjected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia, to mockery by alluding to the 2020 election petition hearing at the Supreme Court.
In a speech he delivered in Kumasi on Sunday, December 19, the Vice President described the petition presented by the NDC as "fundamentally incompetent."
According to him, the NDC failed to rely on facts during their petition at the court but rather relied on trivial issues.
“Interestingly, the NDC decided to challenge our victory at the Supreme Court. However, rather than mounting serious efforts they rather went to the Supreme Court to tell us that the electoral commission gave them tea without biscuits," he said.
He said when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was challenging the 2012 election results at the Supreme Court, the party relied on thousands of facts to collaborate their stance but the NDC did the opposite.
According to him, when the General Secretary of the NDC was challenging the declaration of the 2020 election results at the court, when he was asked to present his facts, he told the court he was not in court to challenge the results.
He said the NDC had absolutely no fact to substantiate the allegation that the election was rigged even though the party threw dust into the eyes of their followers by making them believe the election was problematic.
