As the festive season approaches, popular Nigerian televangelist Apostle Johnson Suleman has encouraged unmarried men not to give money to their girlfriends at the expense of their mothers.
The General Overseer of Omega Fire International Ministry (OFM), a controversial man of God, said that relationships in the twenty-first century had now transformed into a commercial affair, with women using men to suit their financial requirements.
"A young man meets a lady, and she immediately asks, "What will you give me?" Is it true that a relationship is a business transaction? If a lady asks what you are going to offer her, you should ask her what she is going to give you or what she has already given you. Don't forget about your mother by giving money to a woman you aren't married to.
I'm giving you advice so that you don't have to suffer during Christmas. Your mother is in the village, your siblings haven't eaten in days, and your parents are trapped, but you're saving up Christmas money to present to a woman you're not married to.
Is it possible for me to offer you some advice? If somebody puts you under pressure this month, turn off your phone and turn it back on in January if you can't manage it. Turn it on just if you wish to communicate with people who are relevant to you. This Christmas, don't gift money to any lady; instead, take care of your family," says Apostle Suleman.
He also counseled unmarried women not to rely on men for their livelihood, instead seeking business ideas and chances from God. "As a young lady, allow me to say something to you. If you rely on a guy for your livelihood, you're limiting God's ability to bless you. When you look to God for business ideas, he will provide you with them.
If you have a business idea, you may be a woman and employ and feed men. I've toured the world and seen young ladies who were so fortunate and wealthy that they hired guys. So, how long do you think you'll be able to survive on men's handouts? Start brainstorming ideas and seeking for business prospects, according to Apostle Suleman.
