The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana (MMAAG) has threatened to embark on an industrial strike on Thursday, December 2021 to protest the introduction of the 1.75% levy on electronic transactions.

In a statement issued and signed by the General Secretary of the MMAAG, Evans Otumfuo, the union sees the 1.75% levy as "very regressive and critical to the survival our businesses."

According to the association, effective Thursday, all mobile money agents will halt their services across the nation.

The association also threatens that if government fails to grant them a listening ear, all mobile services offered by the MMAAG will be indefinitely halted.
