The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has vowed to eliminate some taxes in order to mitigate the sufferings of Ghanaians and in order to enhance economic prosperity.

Speaking at the Black Stars' square during his presidential inauguration on January 7, 2017, the then elected-president on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had committed to reducing levies in order to help businesses to thrive.

"We will reduce taxes to recover the momentum of our economy," he said.

The President also pledged to protect the national wallet and not subjecting it to mismanagement.

"I shall protect the public purse by insisting on value for money," he said.

These commitments from the President had generated massive cheers from the audience who were clad in their NPP colours.

The audiences' cheers indicated their anticipation for utopia although they did not know how feasible that would be.
