The Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has rubbished claims that the First Deputy Speaker rose from the speaker's chair Monday night to vote on the e-levy bill.

Speaking on JoyNews, he said the Deputy Speaker did not leave his chair to cast his vote but rather, he was going for his medication.

According to him, the Bekwai MP was not medically fit and he had to be begged before he presided over the proceedings on Monday.

He said it's on records that the First Deputy Speaker earlier visited the clinic for medical service and so because of the absence of the Speaker, the NPP caucus pleaded with him to preside over the proceedings.

"He said he wanted to excuse himself to take his medication and then perhaps to come back if he felt okay, or perhaps maybe to sit somewhere,” he said.

The Bekwai MP's attempt to vacate the Speaker's seat generated an uproar as the Minority caucus said he was going to cast his vote
