Ralf Rangnick is on the lookout for his first signing as Manchester United manager, with the club in talks with a forward whose release clause is set to increase in January.
Rangnick's time at United has begun well, with two Premier League victories in his first two games, though their most recent two games were postponed due to a Covid outbreak.
Despite the fact that the German will only be in charge of United until the end of the season, it is expected that he will be given the opportunity to improve the squad in January.
He's been linked with defenders and midfielders so far, but with Anthony Martial expected to leave, he may look to bolster the attacking line as well.
United have already approached River Plate about the possibility of signing Julia Alvarez, according to Argentine outlet Ole, in order to beat their rivals and his contract clause.

The 21-year-old is currently available for £17 million, but that figure will rise to £21 million in the final ten days of January, indicating that United may want to act quickly.
Aside from the price increase, it's also believed that other big clubs across Europe are interested in signing the forward, who can play both in the middle and out wide.
While the player was linked with Aston Villa earlier this year, his recent form has piqued the interest of Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid.
In 46 games this season, Alvarez has scored 24 goals and provided 15 assists for his teammates, so it's easy to see why clubs are interested in him.

Alvarez reacted to stories about his future after scoring a brace to help his team win the Trofeo de Campeones after already winning the league title.
"To be honest, I have no idea what will happen; right now, all I can think about is celebrating." "We'll see what happens in January," the Argentina international told reporters.
"We all know how much the World Cup means for a player," Alvarez said when asked if a potential move would affect his chances of playing in next winter's World Cup.
"I'll choose what's best for me when I make my decision."
At 21, he'll have plenty of opportunities to play in the World Cup, especially if FIFA decides to hold the tournaments every other year, but impressing in Europe will certainly help his chances of making it to Qatar.
Sergio Aguero's recent forced retirement has aided his chances, and a move to United could be accelerated if Barcelona attempts to replace him with Edinson Cavani.
