The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, said the First Deputy Speaker, Joe Osei Owusu was shaking in Parliament like a leaf as a result of poor health.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews on Monday, December 21, the Majority Leader said the Bekwai MP was ill and shivering in the house but because of the absence of the Speaker, the Majority prayed him to preside.
He said when Joe Osei Owusu rose from the Speaker's chair to be taken over by the Second Deputy Speaker, he was going for his medication.
Kyei Mensah denied reports by the Minority caucus that Joe Osei was going to take part in the voting process.
He said records available indicate that Joe Osei Owusu had been to a clinic for medical reasons and so he was shaking like a leaf because he was not medically stable.
"The man was indisposed. He was shivering. And he went to the clinic, the record is there. So we had to persuade him to come and sit. He was in the chamber and he was shaking like a leaf,” he said.
