The race for a successor to President Akufo-Addo in the ruling New Patriotic Party will be interesting in the coming days.
Aspirants including Alan Kyeremateng, Dr Mahmudu Bawumia, Dr. Akoto Afriyie, Joe Ghartey, Boakye Agyarko and others although haven't openly declared their intentions to contest have been subtly campaigning within the rank and file of their party.
Last weekend, the party held it's annual national delegates conference in Kumasi to take stock of the year and to look ahead.
Defying protocols and rules, the Vice President who is a probable contestant was ushered into the event grounds by some Members of Parliament in the Ashanti Region at a time when the President was already seated.
Assigns of Alan Kyeremateng and other leading contenders have expressed disappointment in the leadership of the party for allowing a rule they issued to be broken at the full glare of everybody.
Prior to the delegates conference, a communique was issued by the national executive committee of the party to all aspirants in the next internal elections to desist from any form of campaign.
