Jules Kounde has been linked with a January move to west London once more: All the latest news on France international Danyal Khan has been compiled by football.london.
The transfer of Jules Kounde to Chelsea has been a long-running story.
In reality, this deal could have been completed by now if Sevilla hadn't made a U-turn in the final days of the summer transfer window. Marina Granovskaia was said to have agreed to a £42 million deal for the defender, but Monchi and co. pulled out of the deal, angering Kounde at the time.
Fortunately for the European Champions, Trevoh Chalobah's rise has meant that Thomas Tuchel hasn't had to deal with any defensive issues this season.
This is where Kounde and football come in. london brings you all the latest news on the 23-year-old and his dream transfer to west London, which could happen at any time if Chelsea flexes their financial muscles once more.
Chelsea supporters are enthralled by the passion displayed by Barcelona at the moment.
Following his red card against Barcelona, Chelsea fans have demanded that the Blues make a move for Kounde.
On December 21, the French defender received a straight red card as Sevilla faced the Catalan giants at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Kounde was involved in a confrontation with Barcelona defender Jordi Alba with the score at 1-1. Before Kounde threw the ball in Alba's face, the Spaniard appeared to push the Sevilla player while attempting to receive a ball that had gone out of play.
Tuchel is still a huge fan, so a January deal is possible.
Sevilla are willing to lower their €80 million (£68 million) valuation of Kounde, according to ESPN, allowing the Blues to swoop in and make a move before next summer.
With the defender in the final two-and-a-half years of his contract, the Spanish club is reportedly willing to accept a fee of €50 million to €60 million (£42.5 million to £51 million).
According to the report, a summer transfer is more likely than a January transfer, but given Chelsea's defensive needs, Tuchel could speed up the process if the price drops sufficiently.
Kounde is also rumoured to be interested in a move to Stamford Bridge, and has reportedly agreed to a four- or five-year contract in preparation for a move.
It appears that the Frenchman's halting move to west London may be to Azpilicueta's detriment with the same outlet claiming that Barcelona are closely monitoring his situation.
Tuchel is said to be a big fan of Kounde, dating back to when he was the manager of Paris Saint-German and Kounde was at Bordeaux.
Tuchel is said to be interested in Lille's Sven Botman and Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix as he looks to bolster his backline.
Thomas Tuchel's decision
Tuchel previously stated that Chelsea will have to reconsider whether or not to pursue Jules Kounde in the future, as the situation at centre-back has changed as a result of Chalobah's impressive form.
Chelsea made a strong push to bring the France international to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window. The Blues and the La Liga club held talks for several weeks and appeared to be close to reaching an agreement.
Sevilla, on the other hand, raised their asking price in the final days of the window because they had little time to find a replacement. As a result, Chelsea's official bid was turned down.
"I think every transfer period you need to evaluate again," Tuchel said. "You cannot say what we wanted in the summer, we do in the winter. And what we want to do in winter, we want to do the next summer. It is not like this.
