The blackstars of Ghana has opened camp in Qatar Doha preparing for the upcoming Afcon which will take place in Cameroon .
The blackstars are expecting at least 26 players to join the team for the upcoming African cup of nations.
Blackstars coach, called 28 players to represent Ghana in the Afcon but it looks like , the team is going to miss out on two players .
Which one is Felix Afena Gyan. Felix Afena Gyan is likely to miss the upcoming AFCON due some reasons from his club. According to the young talented striker , the Roma team are not ready to leave the young player for the AFCON as they claim Afena Gyan is too young and not mentally prepared for such competitions.
Also Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus might also miss the upcoming AFCON due to an injury he picked from Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers they played against South Africa.
He was named in the squad because, the coach thought by the time the tournament starts in Cameron the midfielder will be fit and ready to play for the team.
But as it stands , it looks like the young champ can’t make it to the squad because his club Ajax are not willing to release the player as they claim his injury might be worse if they allow him to leave for the AFCON.
Blackstars left Ghana on Friday night with 5 local players, they opened their first indoor training with 8 players including Strasbourg Alexander Djiku, Wakasu of Shenzhen fc ,Richard Atta of Herts of Oak , Daniel Kofi Kyereh of St Pauli , Fatawu Issahaku of Dreams fc , David Abagna of Real Temale United , Philemon Baffour of Dreams fc ,Maxwell Abbey Queye of Accra Great Olympics and Goal keeper Lawrence Ati Zigi St Gallen.
The blackstars team are expecting the rest of the players will join the team around 29th of this month and for those who can’t join on 29th , they can join lately by 3rd January as proposed by FIFA.
FIFA has written a letter to all clubs to release all African players who were selected for the AFCON latest by 3rd January.
Arsenal Thomas partey , with most of the England club players will join the team very late due to some fixtures they have to play before they return to the national team.
Also Ghana captain Dede Ayew who scored a brace some few days ago plays in Qatar and he is expected to join the national team squad soon.
Blackstars will play a friendly game on 28th with a club team in Qatar . They are also preparing to face African champions Algeria in a friendly match to prepare them for the competition.
