Tyler Morton hadn't even made his senior debut a year ago.
With 2022 fast approaching, the Liverpool youngster could be set for a starring role for the Reds on four fronts.
The midfielder, who has only recently turned 19, has had a whirlwind year. He has played in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
With a number of Jurgen Klopp's players either recovering from injury or departing for the African Cup of Nations next month, the German is likely to rely on the youngster even more in the second half of the season.
Morton has had a steady, if not spectacular, start to his professional career, which began with a second-half appearance against Norwich in an EFL Cup tie.
Tyler Morton has had a breakout season at Anfield.
Morton demonstrated his ability to play the number six role there.
He had this to say about his first senior outing: "At Norwich, I was confident on the ball, and I've always played that way. I've never changed, no matter where I've been, and I feel like I've been waiting for the right moment to show off what I'm capable of and burst onto the scene."
Following his performance against the Canaries, Morton made his debut in the next round of the competition at Preston.
"That was a very, very good night for myself," he said of that night in Deepdale. At the start of the season, I told myself that if I was going to get a chance, it would be in a Carabao Cup game.
"So I realized I needed to concentrate, to give it my all, because if I was selected at Preston, it would be my first start in front of the fans and the gaffer, so I really needed to impress and show my abilities."
To be honest, I thought it took me a while to get into the game because I played quite safe - get the ball, pass it on - but once I did, I was able to showcase my long-range passing."
Morton, who was speaking to Liverpool's matchday programme at the time, admitted earlier this year that he is a huge fan of
Now, he'll be hoping to join his hero as a regular member of the team.
He continued, saying: "I believe the manager rewarded me for my Carabao Cup performances by giving me Premier League and Champions League debuts.
Morton made his Champions League debut against AC Milan at the San Siro.
"Playing in these games is a big step forward for me in my career, in my life, because Liverpool is the club I love and want to play for the rest of my life."
Norwich, Preston, Arsenal Porto... these were all monumental moments in my career, and now I'm aiming for even more."
With Klopp's side vying for the Premier League title, as well as glory in Europe and both domestic cups, Morton's energy and talent could come in handy for the Reds.
