Benjamin Mendy, a defender for Manchester City and the France national team, has been charged with a seventh count of rape, increasing his total to seven allegations of rape and one of sexual assault against five different women.
Mendy was charged with the most recent count of rape last week, but he was under reporting limitations.
The most recent charge, which was announced on Wednesday, involves a lady and is said to have occurred in July of this year.
Between October 2020 and August 2021, previous charges are reported to have been filed.
The 27-year-old defender was in court with his co-defendant, Louis Saha Matturie, who is also charged with serious sexual offenses against women.
The legal teams for both defendants have filed motions to dismiss the allegations.
Since his arrest in August, Mendy has been imprisoned in a Liverpool prison after being denied bail.
When he was charged last summer, Manchester City suspended him.
The Manchester City footballer joined the club from Monaco in 2017 and has won the Premier League three times since then. He has played for the French national team on eleven occasions.
The trial of Benjamin Mendy is set to begin next year.
