Arsenal's renewed interest in signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has been dashed. Mikel Arteta's side has been interested in the 21-year-old sensation, who has 16 Serie A goals in 20 appearances for La Viola.
The Serbian striker is currently dominating the Serie A goalscoring charts, establishing himself as one of the world's most sought-after strikers.
And Arsenal have been doing everything they can to jump to the front of the line, ahead of Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, and, most recently, Real Madrid.
According to reports, Fiorentina are close to signing Hertha Berlin striker Krzysztof Piatek on loan, giving the Gunners renewed hope of signing Vlahovic.
However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the arrival of the Polish striker does not imply that Vlahovic will be sold in January.
"Fiorentina sources confirm that Krzysztof Piatek is not considered a replacement for Dusan Vlahovi for this window," Romano tweeted.
"Piatek will join on loan with a purchase option from Hertha - this is not a permanent move." Tomorrow is a medical day." As of now, the Vlahovi situation remains quiet for January."
While Vlahovic's future at Fiorentina appears to be uncertain, the Serbian has repeatedly stated his desire to finish the season with Vincenzo Italiano's side.
"We have a good team, great football players, and a lot of fan support. Everything deserves to be respected. Only God knows what will occur in the following period." My dream is to bring Fiorentina to Europe, as we haven't been there in a long time. I'm not sure what can happen in an instant. We'll see what happens."

Torreira has emerged as a key player for La Viola this season, making 16 league appearances while on loan with the Serie A giants.
Transfermarkt worth Vlahovic is valued at around £63 million, but his transfer value could plummet in the summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
Arsenal, on the other hand, may find it difficult to persuade the Serbian to seek greener pastures at the Gunners, as Gianluca di Marzio believes his agents are unconvinced by the prospect of moving to the Gunners.
