POLICE MEETS GUNFIRE ON PATROLS: SIX DEAD

In a series of extraordinary anti-robbery intelligence-led operations, the police claim to have killed five suspected robbers.


Six more people were detained in the nationwide operation that took place over the last 48 hours.


Similar operations are also being carried out in other parts of the country, including the Northern and Western North Regions, according to the police.


Six robbery suspects were captured and five others were killed in a gun battle with the police during the operations, according to the communiqué.


This is the second time in the last month that a problem of this type has arisen.


The Sawla District Police Command in the Savannah Region murdered two armed robbers on December 12 in Kalba.


According to ASP De-Graft Adjei, the District Police Commander, his unit received a distress call about a robbery incident around 2 a.m. that Sunday.


When the police arrived on the scene, they were met by gunfire. According to ASP Adjei, the team dispatched retaliated.


The firefight resulted in the deaths of two robbers, while the other accomplices managed to flee.


In light of the most recent development, authorities have promised to provide more information as soon as possible.
