SECURITY TIPS: THREE THINGS YOU SHOULD AVOID IN UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST AS FRESHER

featured img

Any new environment you find yourself in, being security conscious or following security tips is highly commendable.

One needs to do or avoid certain things to live safely in his new environment without risking his precious life or valuables.

As a new student at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), there are certain things you should not do if indeed you want to safeguard yourself and your assets.

Some of these things are;

1. Avoid walking alone at night

As a new student, you must walk in the company of friends at night if you want to go somewhere.

You may not know who is monitoring your steps or conspiring to rob you of your money and mobile phones as you walk alone.

Walking with friends sometimes scares criminals away from you and prevents any robbery attack on you.

2. Avoid using unauthorized routes

Authorized routes on campus are the ones mostly used by students to reach their destinations. Such routes are normally busy as there are always people or vehicles plying them.

Unauthorized routes are sometimes referred to as "shortcuts." There are normally few people using these routes.

These routes can be dangerous especially at night as one stands a chance of being robbed by criminals.

These routes are normally found at the diaspora (away from the university's campus).

3. Don't keep your door unlocked while leaving your room

One thing students are mostly cautioned against in the university's traditional halls of residence and hostels is leaving your door opened in the absence of your roommates while leaving the room.

If you want to visit the washroom or purchase something in the hall or outside the hall, it is advisable to lock your door in the absence of your roomies.

Even if you want to visit a friend next door, don't forget to lock your door well. No one is to be trusted in the hostel or hall. Anyone can be a thief in disguise.

Adherence to security tips or being security conscious will save one and his valuables from ending up in the hands of criminals. It also grants you the tranquility needed for academics.
