Manchester City is said to be interested in signing Barcelona wonderkid Gavi.
The 17-year-old has piqued the interest of a number of major European teams, with City keeping a close eye on him.
Gavi's current contract with the Catalan giants, which runs through the summer of 2023, includes a £42 million release clause, according to El Nacional.
If a sufficient offer is made or his release clause is reached, cash-strapped Barcelona may be compelled to sell him, allowing them to make a little dent in their massive £1 billion debt.
After being signed by Barcelona's academy when he was 11 years old in 2015, he signed his first professional contract with the club in September 2020 and was promoted to the first squad the following year.
Xavi is reported to hold him in great regard, since he has given him plenty of playing time since accepting the post in November.
Pep Guardiola is keen to get Gavi to the Etihad, but sources indicate the child might be 'hesitant' to make such a large transfer at such a young age. Gavi is also said to be looking forward to playing alongside the likes of Pedri and Ansu Fati, two of the club's other bright prospects.
This season, Gavi has made 22 senior appearances for Barcelona, scoring once and setting up three times for his teammates.
