The motive for a woman's rush to the court to beg for the annulment of her marriage is intriguing.
Olamide Lawal, a mother of three, petitioned a Grade 'A' Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan (Nigeria) for divorce, claiming that her husband, Saheed Lawal, is killing her with excessive sex.
Olamide further said that her spouse is an alcoholic who lacks 'human kindness.'
"I've been married to Lawal for 14 years. He is an unrepentant alcoholic who lacks human compassion. He spends his time drinking alcohol, abusing me, and forcing me to have sex with him. My children are not provided for by him.
"I can't take him any longer," she expressed her displeasure. She also asked the court to stop her spouse from phoning her cell phone or coming to her residence.
Lawal, on the other hand, pleaded with the court to allow his wife to remain with him. "I'm sorry, and I've turned my life around." I have abstained from consuming alcoholic beverages. Lawal, a fashion designer, stated, "I am ready to start giving the youngsters lunch money."
The couple was instructed to keep their peace by the President of the Court, S.M. Akintayo, who deferred the case until March 1 for judgment.
