Paris Saint-Germain have expressed an interest in Chelsea forward Romelu Lukuku, with the French club willing to pay €90 million.
El Nacional recently published an update on Romelu Lukaku's future. The Chelsea forward has dominated the headlines in recent weeks following comments about Inter Milan and how he regrets leaving the San Siro in favor of a return to Stamford Bridge. Despite the forward's subsequent apology, the majority of Chelsea fans were outraged by Lukaku's interview with Sky Italia.
Lukaku's struggles on and off the field have prompted Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to consider selling him. The Russian oligarch is even willing to approve the player's departure if he can recoup his eye-catching €115 million investment from the summer. It has put several top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, on high alert.
Many believed Lukaku was the missing piece of the jigsaw Chelsea needed to truly compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title this season, having scored 64 goals in 95 competitive appearances for Inter Milan. However, as if his comments about Inter weren't enough, the Belgian has struggled to reintegrate into English football.
Tuchel: Lukaku's comments are 'unhelpful.'
Despite being plagued by injuries, the 28-year-old has only scored five goals in the league so far. Given that he has only played in 13 games, it isn't a bad return, but the Belgian's overall contributions have been quite underwhelming.
It has prompted Chelsea to consider selling Lukaku in the summer. They appear to be willing to replace the former Manchester United superstar with Erling Haaland next summer.
Meanwhile, PSG is one of several clubs keeping an eye on Lukaku's situation. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the club's president, is a big fan of the player and sees him as a perfect replacement for Kylian Mbappe
who is expected to join Real Madrid when his contract expires in the summer
Although Les Parisiens have been linked with a move for Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, Lukaku's age may make him a more logical investment. The 28-year-primary old's desire is to return to Inter Milan, but the move is financially impossible, and with PSG willing to pay €90 million for the striker, it won't be surprising to see Lukaku team up with Lionel Messi next season.
