The Finance and Economic Court II of the Accra High Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of former MASLOC CEO, Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu.
According to the Chief prosecutor in the case involving the state vs. Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu, former Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC under John Mahama over the embezzlement of ¢93B, the accused has intentionally gone into hiding in the United States of America under the guise of seeking medical care abroad and has refused to appear in court since October, 2020.
The prosecution prayed the court to either issue a bench warrant for the arrest of the accused or trial her in absentia if effort to get her arrested fails. She believes the accused is hiding in the States as her lawyers fails to disclose her exact location.
Lead counsel for the accused, Lawyer Kwasi Agbesi Dzakpasu in his defense explains her client sought the permission of the courts and just didn't wake up to travel and so the court should keep waiting for sometime.
Prosecutor however believes Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu has wilfully refused to come to the court and must be forced to do so or trialed in absentia with her rights surrendered to the courts.
Mrs Sedinam Tamakloe Attionu was the CEO of MASLOC under the John Mahama led government and is standing trial for an allege embezzlement of state funds.
Proceedings have been adjourned to the 25th day of January, 2022
