Arsenal are finally in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, with the daunting task of traveling to Anfield to face Liverpool in the first leg on Thursday. Here's a look at the match preview.

By this point, Arsenal were supposed to be on their way to Merseyside with a 3-0 win under their belts and a place in the competition's final all but guaranteed. No, not exactly.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:

Alisson; Bradley, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Jones; Gordon, Jota, Minamino

Arsenal possible starting lineup:

Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney; Lokonga, Patino; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Lacazette

Liverpool, who were set to face a heavily depleted Reds squad in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, successfully appealed to have the game postponed. That match has now become the second leg of his semi-final.

However, there has been some debate about it. Jurgen Klopp stated that the'severe Covid outbreak' that forced the game to be moved was caused by a series of 'false positive' test results. Trent Alexander-Arnold was the only one who had contracted the virus.

Anyway, back to the game, and Arsenal must find a way to respond to their abysmal performance against Nottingham Forest. The team managed to go from the euphoric highs of their performance against Manchester City to the dispiriting lows of whatever you want to call that FA Cup defeat.

Despite all of the optimism, Arsenal has lost both of their 2022 matches.

Mikel Arteta will have to navigate his way around a squad that has been reduced to its bare bones after having to make do with a skeleton coaching staff against Manchester City.

The manager will be waiting for injury updates on two players and Covid tests on others in what could be another disappointing evening at Anfield. At the very least, there will be no Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane this time.

But, putting the FA Cup debacle aside, everything will be forgotten depending on how Arsenal performs in the next three games, beginning on Thursday.

PREDICTION : Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal
