Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United's interim manager, revealed that one player refused to travel with the team to Aston Villa.

United looked far better on Saturday than they did against Villa on Monday, when they somehow advanced to the FA Cup fourth round.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the first half, thanks in part to bad goalkeeping from Emi Martinez, before the Portugal midfielder made it 2-0 in the 67th minute, against the run of play.

Rangnick made a change, with Anthony Elanga replacing Marcus Rashford, who was absent from the team that played on Monday, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo.

United manager Jose Mourinho named two goalkeepers on his bench and was also missing a player, which he explained after the game was due to Anthony Martial's unwillingness to join the squad.

When asked about the French forward's location, the former RB Leipzig coach remarked, "He didn't want to be in the squad." "Normally, he would have been in the squad, but he refused.

Martial is dissatisfied with life at Old Trafford and wants to leave in the January transfer window, but has yet to secure a transfer.

The 26-year-old was apparently offered a loan by Sevilla in La Liga, but United were unhappy with the amount of money paid to him by the Spanish club.

Another source indicated that Newcastle United wanted to recruit the former Monaco striker, who had a Ballon d'Or provision in his United deal that is becoming increasingly ridiculous by the day, but the striker declined.

Rangnick already has enough issues with his team without having to deal with a player who refuses to travel with them, even though it's unlikely he'd have made it onto the field.

Rangnick's side were unable to secure all three points despite taking a 2-0 lead in the game, with Steven Gerrard's side producing an incredible comeback.

First, Jacob Ramsey continued his good form under the new manager by equalizing in the 77th minute, before Philippe Coutinho's inevitable goal.

After a loan move from Barcelona, the former Liverpool forward made his Villa debut off the bench, and the Brazilian leveled in the 81st minute for a well-deserved point.
