Spurs fans led the social media outcry, branding Arsenal "frauds" for their claims.
Arsenal fans have slammed the club for successfully postponing Sunday's north London derby against Tottenham, with pundit Gary Neville also criticizing the Premier League for allowing it to happen.
Sportsmail exclusively revealed on Friday that the Gunners had filed a request for the match against bitter rivals Tottenham to be canceled, and the Premier League accepted the request shortly after midday on Saturday.
Arsenal will be missing at least a dozen players due to positive Covid cases, injuries, suspensions, and international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
However, Neville stated that the lack of transparency surrounding Premier League clubs requesting match postponements suggested that many were now doing so for reasons other than the pandemic, which should not be permitted.
'Game on!' (Tottenham v Arsenal). What began as postponements due to a pandemic has now evolved into clubs not having their best team,' Neville tweeted.
'The Premier League must put a stop to this right now, draw a line in the sand, and say that all games must go ahead unless there is an unusually high number of CV (Covid) cases.' It's incorrect.
However, Ian Wright has criticized Neville's previous stance on the matter, claiming that the ex-Manchester United player was more concerned with Super Sunday's success for his employers Sky Sports than with his own fans.
Spurs fans are expected to be enraged by the postponement, which leaves them with four Premier League matches remaining, and they have already taken to social media to express their displeasure.
One Spurs fan could only write 'frauds,' while another pointed out that Arsenal were not 'complaining when they beat below strength teams in December,' and dubbed the Premier League a 'joke.'
