A former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Michael Oquaye, has invalidated claims that he was given military security whereas serving as Speaker of the seventh Parliament.
In a marked articulation issued on Monday, Prof Oquaye depicted the news as a “discernable†lie and ought to be ignored.
“I was never advertised military security, nor did I ask for any. In fact, I had as it were three policemen to move with me and give security at all fabric times.
“This information can be effectively confirmed by anybody who cares for the truth at the office of the Receptionist-to-Parliament at any given time,†his articulation examined.
His disclaimer comes in the midst of the fracture over the withdrawal of military connection to the office of the occupant Speaker of Parliament.
A spilled record from the Ghana Equipped Powers (GAF) coordinated the withdrawal of a few four warriors from the office of the Speaker since they were doled out there “without legitimate method.â€
The GAF’s Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. N. P. Andoh said WOII Apugiba Awine David, S/Sgt Agbley Thrive, WO1 Jafaru Bunwura and Sgt. Bonney Ruler’s connection to Mr Bagbin’s office since he accepted office on January 7, last year, is disgraceful.
“It is submissively asked that the work force are pulled back with impact from 14 January 2022 whereas endeavors are made to regularise their connection,†the January 11 letter expressed.
The Minority has, in any case, kicked against the mandate charging the Akufo-Addo government of acting in awful confidence.
They claim the move is politically motivated pointed to derail the certainty of Mr Bagbin.
In the mean time, Prof Oquaye has argued for his title to be cleared out out of the media talk on the said subject.
