Barcelona are apparently considering Adama Traore of Wolverhampton Wanderers as a possible replacement for Ousmane Dembele.

Dembele's current Blaugrana contract expires at the end of the current season. While there were rumours that the club and the player were close to settling on a new contract, he now appears to be on his way out of Camp Nou.

Barcelona is apparently aiming to sell him during the current transfer window in order to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer. However, that appears to be doubtful at the moment, with rumours claiming that Dembele himself wants to wait until the summer to make a decision on his future. The Blaugrana, on the other hand, have begun their search for successors. They are interested in signing Traore, according to Diario Sport (via Barca Blaugranes). The signing, however, will not be easy because Tottenham Hotspur is also interested in the player.

Dembele and the Wolves winger have comparable features. He is a lightning fast player who prefers to operate around the touchline and drags opponents out wide. Traore, on the other hand, is far more physical than the Frenchman and has the capacity to dominate defenders. The injury record of the 25-year-old is also better than Dembele's. Since joining Wolves in 2018, he hasn't had any long-term layoffs. Jorge Mendes, Traore's agent, is Barcelona's best advantage in this probable transaction. Mendes was instrumental in the sale of Nelson Semedo to Wolves in 2020 and the loan of Francisco Trincao to Wolves last summer. As a result, the Blaugrana might utilise Trincao to negotiate a lower price for Traore with the Premier League club.

Adama Traore might be a valuable addition to Barcelona's squad.

It's also worth noting that Traore is a Barcelona native. He progressed through the La Masia ranks and earned his first-team debut in the 2013-14 season.

Many anticipated him to improve under Luis Enrique, who took over as manager in the summer of 2014. Traore, on the other hand, only appeared twice for the first squad in the 2014-15 season, both times in the Copa del Rey. In their 8-1 hammering of Huesca, he scored a fantastic solo goal, his first for the club.

Traore left Barcelona in quest of regular first-team action in the summer of 2015. Before joining Wolves in 2018, he had two disappointing spells at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.

The 25-year-old has been a huge help to the team in their first season back in the Premier League, playing a significant part. Traore's greatest season in a Wolves shirt followed, with six goals and 12 assists in 54 games across all competitions. He was instrumental in their journey to the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals, as well as their seventh-place finish in the league.

Traore, on the other hand, has struggled to recreate his previous exploits this season, scoring only once in 22 appearances across all competitions. He is, however, one of Wolves' most dangerous forward threats, and he has looked impressive at times.
