Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac is not stepping down despite an abysmal performance by his team in Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The Serbian trainer looks ahead to leading Ghana into World Cup after exiting at the group stage of the continental showpiece. He believes Ghana have what it takes to make it to the global competition.
"I will stay and lead Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers in March. I believe we have a team that can become stronger and get to the World Cup." Milovan Rajevac told the media in a post match presser.
Black Stars of Ghana - prior to the commencement of the Nations Cup - were tasked by President Akufo-Addo to win this year’s Nations Cup.
As part of preparations to conquer Africa, Milovan Rajevac announced a 30-man provisional squad for the tournament. He trimmed the list to 28, with five local players included.
Black Stars left Ghana for Doha, Qatar, for Afcon preparations. The team had to start training without regular players following the decision by FIFA and CAF to allow African players stay with their clubs till 3rd January 2022.
A 1 - 0 loss to Algeria in an Afcon preparatory game sparked concerns but the coach and his henchmen assured of better outcome in the main tournament.
Milovan Rajevac led his charges into the competition and lost the opening fixture to Morocco.

In the last group game against Comoros, Black Stars were handed a 3 - 2 shocking defeat. Comoros broke the deadlock in the first half, added the second goal in the second half. Ghana pulled one back and restored parity. Comoros broke the heart of Ghanaians with a winning goal in the closing stages of the game. Black Stars toiled to even the scores but were denied any opportunity to come closer to glory.
Ghana had to exit the competition with a point and became the last team in Group C.
As Milovan Rajevac getting to ready to lead Ghana into the play off spot of the World Cup qualifiers, it is yet to be known if officials will allow him to stay on.
