As Liverpool and Arsenal prepare to meet in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has predicted who will win the competition outright.
Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, believes Chelsea will win the League Cup this season.
Thomas Tuchel's side were the first to book their place in the Carabao Cup final this season, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 over two legs.
The West Londoners booked their place at Wembley Stadium with startling ease, as Antonio Conte's side barely touched the reigning Champions League holders.
The semi-final between Liverpool and Arsenal is on the line after Mikel Arteta's side held Jurgen Klopp's men to a 0-0 draw despite being reduced to ten men.
Nonetheless, Ferdinand believes that Chelsea's experience in cup competitions will help them win their third trophy under Tuchel.
Liverpool and Arsenal drew 0-0 in the first leg at Anfield.
"I believe Chelsea will win," Ferdinand told Vibe with FIVE.
"I think Chelsea will win it because they know how to win cup competitions."
"They won the Champions League, they have confidence, they know how to do it on the day, and I see them doing it," he says.
Chelsea completely dominated their north London rivals over the course of two legs.
Kai Havertz's early goal and a hilarious own goal by Ben Davies sealed a 2-0 victory in the first leg at Stamford Bridge.
And the Blues completed the job at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Antonio Rudiger scored to give Chelsea an unassailable 3-0 aggregate lead over Conte's men.
However, the Blues suffered a huge setback in their Premier League title bid when Manchester City defeated them 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
This season, Ferdinand believes Chelsea will win the League Cup.
It was a consequence that may have ended their chances of winning their first league title since 2017, as they are now 13 points behind Pep Guardiola's side.
Tuchel, on the other hand, believes that winning the League Cup and maintaining a winning mentality are essential for any team aspiring to dominate their respective divisions.
"I come from a club where winning trophies was extremely important," the German explained.
"It has defined itself for trophies." It's great that we're not afraid to say we want to win it, that we want to be in the finals and that we want to win the finals.
Chelsea advanced to the League Cup final with a resounding victory over Tottenham.
"This is what we find here, and it makes us happy."We're all competitive, so we're all giving it our all, and that's what the club expects of us, and we'll go from there."
With Chelsea's title hopes seemingly over, cup competitions appear to be their best chance of silverware once more.
Their FA Cup campaign got off to a flying start with a 5-0 home win over non-league Chesterfield.
The Blues have the advantage of playing at home again in the next round, as they were drawn against Plymouth Argyle.
Meanwhile, despite the fact that the entire draw had to be redone, they were given a very favorable draw in the Champions League.
Chelsea avoided the likes of Bayern Munich despite finishing second in their group as they were drawn to face Lille in the Round-of-16 stages of Europe’s UEFA competition.
