RANGNICK SAYS STRUGGLING MAN UNITED STAR IS ONE OF THE BEST IN TRAINING

The high-profile transfer of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United hasn't lived up to expectations.

The English international has battled to establish himself in the starting XI after joining from Borussia Dortmund for a record £73 million last summer.

He's made 23 appearances in all competitions, the majority of them as a substitute, and has only scored twice. He has yet to assist on a goal for the Red Devils.

Sancho's life hasn't been made any easier by injuries, and he's been widely seen as a costly bust.

Ralf Rangnick, United's interim manager, does not agree. He believes the player is suffering with the pressures of playing for a great club such as Manchester United, but that he has shown promise in training.

"It's a different league, a different competition, a more physical league," he told the press ahead of their league clash with Brentford. He's now 21 years old and plays for one of the world's most prestigious clubs. I believe that has something to do with a lot of the things going on in his head up here."

Sancho's best is still to come for Manchester United, according to Rangnick.

Sancho's playmaking prowess, along with his goal-scoring prowess, made him one of Dortmund's most sought-after players.

He made 104 appearances for the club in three and a half years, scoring 38 goals and assisting on another 45.

We haven't seen him reach such heights with United yet, but Rangnick believes the player will eventually rise to the occasion.

‘’When I see him in training, he always shows up and is one of the finest players in the sessions. Now it's all about transferring his level of performance on the field to when he's on the field. It's a different storey if you come to Borussia Dortmund as an 18-year-old undiscovered gifted English boy."

Rangnick continued, "

‘’From then on, you can only get better, and you can only succeed." When you arrive to a club like Manchester United at the age of 21, for a hefty transfer fee, and with a high level of expectation, the level of expectation is much lower."

Sancho has all of the backing he needs at the club, according to the German, but it is up to him to prove his worth.

"We can provide instructions, lend a hand, and demonstrate that we are attempting to accompany him on this journey and provide all necessary aid, but in the end, it is up to him to take the following steps."

‘’For me, it's not at all an issue of his position," Rangnick said. His best position is as a left or right winger, which is his greatest option. But, once again, it's not just about the best possible training. It's about putting your training results into practise on the field."
