The Black Stars of Ghana have not been so impressive this year but hopefully things will change. However, some people are unaware of the true meaning of the black stars.
Someone asked the question "Who named our National Team the Black Stars? How can a Black Star shine?" The person was clearly unaware of the meaning of the Black Stars.
The name, Black Stars, is not meant to be taken literally. It is a combination of two words "Black" and "Star". Ghana is the star of Africa. A star is meant to shine and that is reflected in the unparalleled peace Ghanaians experience.
Ghanaians are Blacks and that is why the national team is called Black Stars. We have to rid our mind of the concept of slavery and that Black stands for evil. That is not always the case.
The Black Stars were a formidable squad in previous generations. Hopefully, the current squad can live up to the reputation and bring the AFCON home.
