The host of Onua TV’s breakfast show, Blessed Godsbrain Smart alias Captain Smart has been cited by the Police Criminal Investigations Department for the offences of defrauding by false pretense and accepting or giving bribe to corrupt a public officer.
This comes after the police probed an accusation that has to do with the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, receiving a bribe worth GHS 250,00.00 from some taxi drivers in Accra.
Kwaku Annan aired the allegation on Oman TV and Net 2 in August 2021 and the police launched an investigation into it.
Reports indicate that the host of Onua TV's breakfast show received an amount of GHS 25,000.00 from some taxi drivers and a resident of Achimot to be given to the Roads Minister.
The money was supposed to be a "thank you" gift to the Minister for intervening to stop a private developer from developing a reserved piece of land that was used by the taxi drivers as a taxi rank.
But the police findings reveal that the Roads Minister did not receive the gift and had no information at all about it.
The police indicate that Captain Smart failed to hand over the contribution to Hon. Atta-Amoako as he was supposed to do.
The police are preparing Captain Smart for prosecution.
