MANCHESTER UNITED may have a strong interest in Diego Carlos' move to Newcastle.
If Newcastle United completes the £30 million purchase of Diego Carlos from Sevilla, they will be doing Manchester United a huge favor. The Magpies' potential acquisition could have ramifications for Anthony Martial, who appears to be on the verge of leaving Old Trafford after nearly seven years at the club.
Ralf Rangnick, United's interim manager, revealed in December that Martial would like to seek a new challenge in January.
Under the German, the 26-year-form old's appears to have stalled, with only one Premier League goal in seven outings so far this season.
Overall, after actively recruiting during the summer, United is struggling to earn fourth place.
With the additions of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, Martial's possibilities have been further reduced, however Rangnick stated that he would only sanction a departure if it was in the club's best interests.

That much became evident when United reportedly turned down a loan offer from Sevilla, which allegedly included only covering half of his salaries.
Martial's salary packet, said to be £250,000 per week in Manchester, would be a major commitment for the Spanish team, but that is where Newcastle may come in.
Sevilla appear hesitant to sell Carlos, but if they do give in to the player's request, they may find themselves with cash on their hands.
Around £30 million may go a long way toward securing a more palatable credit agreement for United.
After an apparent breakdown of communication with Rangnick over the past few days, Martial's potential exit from Old Trafford could be advantageous to all sides.
Initially, United's manager claimed that Martial had asked to be kept out of the team for last weekend's match against Aston Villa, but the player later contradicted those assertions on social media.
Now in his mid-twenties, the once-heralded youth could have enough to offer another team if they can come up with the cash to bring the Red Devils to the table.
In Sevilla's case, a lot depends on the Magpies, who appear to be hell-bent on bringing in a centre-back before their trip to Elland Road.

Sven Botman, a top target, appears certain to stay with Lille for the time being, while Monaco's Benoit Badiashile has been given a high price tag.
Eddie Howe and his team are left with little options other than signing Carlos, however it is uncertain how Sevilla will respond to the player's want to depart.
After signing this month, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood have already made their Toon debuts.
And several more are on the way in the next week and a half, with a dismal draw against Watford adding to the urgency of their January transfer plans.
