Barcelona have informed Ousmane Dembele that he must leave the club in January due to interest from Chelsea, according to director Alemany.
The 24-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season and will not sign a contract extension in Spain.
Barcelona director Alemany has now confirmed that he will leave the club later this month.
As Fabrizio Romano reported, Alemany stated, "It's clear that Dembele does NOT want to continue with Barcelona." He refuses to participate in our project. Dembele was told he had to leave right away. We anticipate that Ousmane will be sold before January 31."
Chelsea have been heavily linked with the French international, who is a huge fan of Thomas Tuchel.
According to initial reports, the Blues are 'especially' interested in Dembele and have been 'following him closely.'
Despite Barcelona's initial contract offer being reportedly 'competitive,' his agent has demanded a gross salary of €40 million as well as €40 million in bonuses for his player, but he will not extend in Catalonia.
It was previously reported that Chelsea contacted his agents about a possible transfer, and that this is now getting closer.
Tuchel was said to be 'adamant' that Chelsea sign the player because of their positive relationship at Dortmund.
Chelsea are reportedly 'capable of paying' Dembele what he wants and could easily bring him to Stamford Bridge if Tuchel convinces the Blues to make a move.
It remains to be seen whether the Blues will offer a transfer fee to Barcelona for a player who will be available at the end of the season.
