Ghana Police Service said the fuel tanker that caught fire on Friday, January 22, 2022, at Kaase, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region was discharging fuel to some tricycle riders.
In a statement issued by the Police on Friday, the police said the driver of the vehicle who was driving DAF tanker with the registration number AS 2531-19 was discharging fuel to tricycle drivers when the fire broke out.
The police said what actually led to the outbreak of the fire remains unknown.
The police said no injuries were recorded and wooden structures numbered about 40 were burnt by the fire.
The truck driver and the tricycle riders, according to the police, have managed to flee from the scene.
However, the police said they are striving assiduously to have them apprehended.
The police also warned,d "everyone to desist from engaging in activities that have the potential to put the lives of the general public at risk."
