MANCHESTER UNITED expects to unload a number of players before the transfer season closes.
Marcus Rashford's last-minute winner gave Manchester United all three points against West Ham at the weekend. The Red Devils put up a fine overall effort, albeit it did confirm that the peripheral players at Old Trafford are unlikely to get a look in the future.
The game against the Hammers appeared to be heading for a goalless draw until all three of Ralf Rangnick's second-half replacements came together to score the game-winning goal.
After being given the ball on the edge of the box, Anthony Martial slipped the ball down the left flank to Edinson Cavani, who appeared to be offside at first sight but was actually onside, and squared the ball across the face of the goal for Rashford to tap in.
The goal demonstrates the Red Devils' depth, though that may change as numerous players appear to be on their way out this month.
It has been suggested that United had an excessively large team, and with so much talent waiting in the wings for opportunities, it was only a matter of time before those who were forced to wait became impatient.

Rangnick may be hoping that those in charge of negotiations can get the transactions done sooner rather than later so that the German can spend some of his money.
Several great players have been linked with a move to United this month, but the club is yet to make any new signings.
Rangnick's decision to switch to a 4-3-3 and play Bruno Fernandes in a deeper role could have put their ambitions on hold this month.
The Red Devils are apparently interested in English duo Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, though neither appears to be on their way out of Dortmund or West Ham, respectively.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United is fielding inquiries from a number of clubs about some of their players who are looking for new clubs, and those transfers might be finalized before the end of the January transfer season.
Given that Jesse Lingard's contract expires at the end of the season, and this will be his childhood club's last chance to cash in on him - whether permanently or via a loan move – one would assume that his departure is a priority.
Newcastle is thought to have made an offer for the versatile forward, but the club is awaiting confirmation from the relegation-threatened club that they will cover all of Lingard's £200,000 per week salary as well as the £6 million loan fee.
United are awaiting such an offer for Martial, who Sevilla are apparently interested in and tried to sign earlier this month.

Donny van de Beek's terrible tenure at Old Trafford may be coming to an end, as the midfielder has been offered to Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund, though additional clubs are expected to join the race to recruit the Dutchman.
Of course, there will be other deals going on behind the scenes, as well as fringe players like goalkeeper Dean Henderson drawing interest from other clubs.
"I don't know," Rangnick said when asked if any players would be sold this month.
"I'm aware of which players would prefer to depart. I am aware that there are certain conversations with teams going on, but I am not a part of them. If something happens, I'll most likely be notified and informed. All we can do now is wait and watch what happens."
