Former President and 2020 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has sent a gentle reminder to Veep Bawumia over his words prior to the 2016 elections.
In a Facebook post, the Former President posted a video of Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia talking about the Ghanaian economy and how it has been mismanaged by the then NDC government.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the then government had spent lavishly and was now hell-bent on taxing everything to survive or go bankrupt.
The situation in 2016 according to the now Vice President forced the country under John Mahama to turn to the International Monetary Fund to borrow more and concluded that the government was clueless and incompetent.
John Mahama feeling vindicated about how clueless Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia was prior to 2016 posted the video on his Facebook page.
Ghana's economy has been rated B- by International rating firm Fitch. Government officials have said the only option on the table to sustain the economy is to shore up revenue through taxing with the introduction of the electronic transaction fee.
