The 1st meeting of the 3rd session of the 8th Parliament began yesterday after the Christmas break which ended on a violent note in the absence of the Speaker.

Unconfirmed sources suggest Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin,  the Speaker of Parliament may not for another time preside over the debate and voting on the electronic transaction levy next week when it is finally laid before the house for consideration.

Government and the majority side of the law-making chamber have had a tough time pushing the electronic transactions levy through after the passage of the appropriation bill.

According to deep sources within the protocol of the Speaker, he will be flying outside the country for another routine medical checkup in the United Arab Emirates.
