Presidential Staffer, Newton-Offei Abeeku Justice has said, the Speaker of Parliament should resign from his job and channel all his energy to getting better health wise.
In a Facebook post, the Presidential Staffer wrote "In any of the civilised countries, the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin would have resigned to focus on his health for smooth running of government business.
The role of the Speaker is extremely stressful and the rapidity with which he's been junketting Accra and Dubai for medical attention is further exacerbating his condition and stalling business in the House".
The Speaker of Parliament is expected to leave the country for a routine medical check-up in Dubai days after the resumption of business in the law making chamber.
Many have expressed worry and branded his absence due to medical reasons as deliberate and an attempt to stifle government business especially at a time when the government wants a bill passed.
In his absence, the first or second deputy Speaker will sit in to preside over the meetings of the house. Members of Parliament exchanged brawls and fisticuffs when the first and second deputy Speakers presided over the voting of the e-levy.
