The Tamale Circuit Court has sentenced five outfitted thieves to 15 a long time detainment each for their involvement in a later car grabbing occurrence at Jongsheigu in Tamale.
They grabbed a Toyota Camry salon car from its proprietor. The five are; Yussif Mustapha, 23, Ibrahim Issah, 27, Seyram Addo, 34, Adjei Benjamin, 23 and Vikpo Christopher 27.
They argued blameworthy to the charges of theft and ownership of guns when they showed up in court on January 25.
The administering was perused by His Respect Alexander Owarie, who managed over the case.
The sentencing takes quick impact and will run concurrently with the offense of ownership of Police and Military accoutrements.
The five were captured on January 23, at Buipe within the Savannah Locale after escaping the theft scene. Amid a look, the Benefit recovered a G3 Riffle and a gun from the convicts.
Tending to the media in Tamale, the Northern Regional Police Commander, COP Timothy Yoosa Bonga said one of the suspects, Yussif Mustapha, at the time of capture, was completely dressed in a Military uniform with the rank of Spear Corporal, decorated with an armed force central station cord and equipped with a Military hawk gun stacked with 9 rounds of 9MM ammo.
In reaction, the Ghana Equipped Powers said Yussif Mustapha isn't an armed force officer.
“The consideration of the Ghana Outfitted Strengths has been drawn to a few videos and pictures on different social media stages of the capture of a car grabbing syndicate at Buipe who are charged to have assaulted and grabbed a car from a casualty at Tamale.
“Within the said videos and pictures, one of the suspects is seen wearing Military camouflage uniform and has been depicted differently as a trooper of the Ghana Outfitted Powers. We wish to state categorically that the suspect isn't a officer of the Ghana Equipped Powers,†GAF expressed in a press discharge dated January 24.
