KLOPP EXPECTS FIVE MAJOR LIVERPOOL ADDITIONS FOLLOWING THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK

The Reds enter the winter break after a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, which moves them nine points behind Manchester City in the table.

Jurgen Klopp, a man who is frequently vocal about the need for rest in modern football, will undoubtedly welcome the Premier League break that is now upon us.

Despite the fact that some of his players will still be in action.

Alisson Becker and Fabinho, fresh from game-changing interventions at Crystal Palace on Sunday, will both travel to Ecuador and Paraguay with Brazil for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay, respectively, although Roberto Firmino has not been named.

Takumi Minamino also has World Cup qualifiers with Japan, with games against China and Saudi Arabia, and of course, Liverpool's African stars are all still competing in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, albeit with Naby Keita suspended for Guinea's second-round match on Monday.

Everyone else, on the other hand, gets to put their feet up, and Klopp is overjoyed.

"Today was a big three-point day for us, really big. Again, a tense period "Klopp said following the victory at Selhurst Park.

"Now we have a little bit of a breather, which helps, at least for most of us, not all of us – the Brazilians have to go, Taki has to go. The rest, on the other hand, can take a deep breath and then we can begin again."

Not only will they begin again, but they should begin in greater numbers.

The AFCON concludes on the same Sunday, so at least one of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, or Keita will have returned to Merseyside by then. There could be two or three.

It may not be appropriate for them to go straight into the team to face the Championship side, but they will undoubtedly be back with the group to warm up for Leicester's Premier League visit on February 10.

Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott, who was spotted in training last week, got fans talking on Instagram on Monday when he posted a picture of himself in action and promised to see them soon.

Before he dislocated his ankle in September at Leeds, the teenager was flying and in fantastic form, and he appears to be on the verge of returning to the fold.

With three cup competitions to play for and the Premier League leaders to chase, Klopp's reinforcements couldn't come at a better time.
