The Coalition of Concerned University Students (CoCUS) announces an upcoming demonstration against the government's inability to resolve the impasse between the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and the government.

A press statement issued by CoCUS on January 31, 2022, says "in relation to the ongoing UTAG strike action and stalemate of negotiations, the Coalition is preparing for a peaceful and intellectual protest against government's inability to bring a harmonized resolution to the matter."

A petition, CoCUS says, will be presented to the Presidency and the legislature for government's consideration.

The group urges all students and stakeholders to show up in the protest.

Details of the protest will be released soon according to the Coalition.

UTAG has indefinitely withdrawn its services in all public universities across the country since January 10.

UTAG, among several other demands, wants the government to increase its annual research allowance.

Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission (NLC) has dragged UTAG to court after the latter failed to go back to the classroom against a directive from the NLC.

The case will be heard on February 3 at the Accra High Court.
