Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to have rejected the move of AS Roma striker Luka Jovic. Jose Mourinho's team gave it their all until the last seconds, but Perez was adamant about not losing his attacker to the Italian club.
Luka Jovic has played very little for Real Madrid despite being fit for the majority of his career. Under Zinedine Zidane, he had few opportunity to shine, and Carlo Ancelotti has perpetuated the trend. When he does get the chance to impress, which comes only once in a blue moon, he usually fails to gain his coach's trust. Because of his poor performances, the club from the Spanish capital began to consider other choices. When Roma approached, though, they opted to take the player off the market.
Real Madrid wanted Jovic to join either Everton or Arsenal, according to El Nacional, because both clubs had agreed to a larger purchase option. The Italian club, on the other hand, just wanted the Serbian international for a six-month loan, with no plans to make the move permanent. The 24-year-old striker is said to have rejected to transfer to the Premier League because he only wanted a six-month loan. Perez, who was dissatisfied with the situation, intervened and prevented Mourinho from obtaining his man.
Jovic is expected to continue at the Santiago Bernabeu until the end of the 2021-22 season at the earliest. His current deal with the club is set to expire in June 2025.
