According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are still hopeful of signing Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho despite the trade collapsing on deadline day.
Up to the deadline, the Reds appeared to be having a successful transfer window. They have already signed FC Porto midfielder Luis Diaz for a cost of roughly £37.5 million. Jurgen Klopp's side then turned their focus to Fabio Carvalho, who they were on the verge of signing on deadline day.
Despite passing a medical exam, the sale fell through because the two sides failed to submit the required documentation for the transfer. The Reds, on the other hand, remain optimistic about completing their transfer aim during the summer transfer window. The ideal solution for Liverpool and Fulham, according to the aforementioned source, is to stick to the previously agreed-upon terms in June. Both parties will avoid paying a tribunal charge for the offensive midfielder this way.
It's worth mentioning that Fulham's deal with Fabio Carvalho expires in the summer. When Carvalho's contract expires in the summer, the Cottagers will be entitled to a compensation amount. As a result, rather than paying the tribunal's expenses, the Reds may be able to pay the price already agreed upon with the Championship club.
This season, Fabio Carvalho has played a key role in Fulham's promotion push. In 18 Championship games this season, he has scored seven goals and supplied four assists. If the Reds signed Carvalho on deadline day, the Cottagers reportedly wanted him back on loan until the end of the season. They have finally gotten their desire, as the youngster will be a Fulham player for the remainder of the season.
