Former Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to news that his former club has agreed to pay Kylian Mbappe a record fee if he joins them.
The rumored value of the salaries included in Kylian Mbappe's deal to join Real Madrid has surprised Real Madrid great Ronaldo.
The French striker is thought to have finalised terms on a deal to join the Spanish giants, with earnings of £800,000 per week reportedly included in the deal.
Mbappe is free to sign a pre-contract deal with international clubs now that his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer, and he is expected to join Los Blancos ahead of next season.
However, Ronaldo, a two-time World Cup winner, has been taken aback by the enormity of his upcoming salary.

At Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe is expected to earn £800,000 a week.
Ronaldo told Bobo TV, as reported by The Sun: "He is incredibly strong, and he possesses the pace and coldness in front of goal that will propel him to the top of the rankings.
"I've also heard that he'll join Real Madrid and earn €50 million a years
"We've created the wrong generation," says the narrator. The football industry is booming, therefore it's only right that the stars get paid more and more.
"If it's like that today, it's because they were inspired by athletes like us."

Ronaldo is perplexed by Kylian Mbappe's reported salary.
Between 2002 and 2007, Ronaldo spent five years with Real Madrid, scoring over 100 goals and won two La Liga titles during that time.
During his career, which included stints with Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven, and both Milan clubs, he won the Ballon d'Or twice.
O Fenomeno was one of several players brought to the Santiago Bernabeu during the club's 'Galacticos' era, and Mbappe's possible arrival might indicate a resurgence of similar transfer strategy.
"Benzema in my opinion, but Lewandowski is very close," he said of several other elite strikers in addition to Mbappe.
"Haaland will grow into a very strong player, perhaps even number one, but he lacks the technique of the top two."
