In the race to sign Matthijs de Ligt, Chelsea has grabbed the lead. Bayern Munich and Juventus are also anxious to keep him, so the Blues are up against it.
De Ligt is expected to depart Juventus in the summer, according to a report in La Stampa (via Calciomercato.it). The Dutchman is looking to advance his career and has been approached by two major clubs.
Chelsea is presently leading the fight for the former Ajax defender, according to the report. Andreas Christensen's contract with the Blues is set to expire this season, and the Blues consider him as the ideal replacement. Bayern Munich is attempting to sign De Ligt as a substitute for Niklas Sule. The German defender has informed the club that he will not be renewing his contract and will leave this summer.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both interested in signing him. De Ligt has being pushed to remain at Juventus.
While Chelsea and Bayern Munich are both interested in signing De Ligt this summer, he has been urged to stay at Juventus.
Miralem Pjanic believes that staying and playing with Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini would be the greatest decision for him. "De Ligt has three years left on his Juventus deal, and he has the necessary dedication, but I'm not sure if Barcelona is interested. He made a terrific decision by joining Juventus and working alongside Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini; he is pleased at Juventus, and it is best not to leave when you are happy. We'll see if he's motivated enough to depart."
Jaap Stam, a former Dutch defender, has echoed the sentiment and pushed the former Ajax player to stay at Juventus. "I believe it is critical that you stay because only in this way will you be able to progress, compare yourself to the best, and learn to manage pressure in key Champions League and Serie A matches."
Stam continued, " "My assessment of him is favourable; in recent months, he has demonstrated excellent communication skills. He has received some criticism, but his initial troubles stemmed from the fact that he had to learn how to adjust to a new form of game while still being young.""Matthijs plays for a fantastic club with fantastic players, and the stakes are considerably higher for him. Furthermore, you must keep in mind that the opponents you will face in Italy are not the same as those you will face in the Netherlands."
According to reports, both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are willing to meet De Ligt's demands, and Mino Raiola is in contact with both clubs.
