When Chelsea competes in the Club World Cup, they will see the use of 'robot referees.'
The Blues will be looking to win the competition for the second time after losing to Corinthians in the final in 2012.
Thomas Tuchel's team will travel to the tournament in the UAE as a result of their Champions League victory last season, in which they defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the final in Porto.
According to football.london, 'robot referees' will be tested during this month's competition.
The new technology is expected to be used to make offside decisions in less than a half-second.
Special cameras mounted on stadium roofs will be used to create a 'limb-tracking system,' creating animated skeletons that will aid in the decision-making process regarding offside calls.
The VAR referees in place will then be notified of the technology's decision, and the on-pitch referee will be notified later.
Chelsea will be the first Premier League team to use 'robot referees,' after the technology was successfully used during the Arab Cup.
FIFA hopes to have the system fully operational before the start of this year's World Cup in November and December with the governing body saying the robotics have the: "possibility of providing new insights for coaches, medical staff, and fans."
The Blues will compete in the tournament's semi-finals, where they will face Al Hilal, Al Jazira, or Pirae.
