Alex Telles had a memorable night on Wednesday, making his first competitive international start and receiving plaudits from a true Brazilian icon.
The Manchester United full-back earned the call after playing the entire 90 minutes of Brazil's 4-0 victory over Paraguay in the South American World Cup qualifiers.
After Alex Sandro was pushed out after testing positive for Covid-19, Telles was given his chance, and the United defender did not disappoint in his first competitive start for his country.
After earning his last cap in 2020, the 29-year-old was recalled to Brazil's team for the last round of qualifying for this year's World Cup.
And he came close to assisting on his most recent international outing, with Matheus Cunha heading wide from his cross in the second half before a Paraguay defender blocked Marguinhos' attempt to turn home a Telles free-kick.
It was a performance that demonstrated why Telles has been able to cement his place in the United starting lineup in recent weeks – and it even drew praise from famous Brazil full-back Roberto Carlos.
Telles congratulated everyone on the victory on Instagram, writing: "Congratulations to all for the victory." I'm thrilled to be a part of this group. Always a privilege, Brazil."
Carlos was among those who responded to the United defender, writing: "Parabens lindoooooo," which roughly translates to "congratulations."
Telles and United teammate Fred will now return to England, though neither is expected to play in the FA Cup fourth round clash against Middlesbrough on Friday.
The pair, though, should be fit for United's trip to Burnley on Tuesday, as they continue their fight for a place in the Premier League's top four.
