This summer, Liverpool are rumored to be actively looking to sell one of their famous forward lines. This is from the podcast "The Transfer Window" (9mins 48secs).
Journalists Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles serve as hosts. They claim that Jurgen Klopp is willing to sell one or more of Liverpool's attacking jewels this summer.
"Klopp and the club are willing to cash in on one of their front three, who were of course absolutely critical to them winning both the Champions League and the Premier League," McGarry said.
"They are acting in this manner for two reasons: One, because three players, Salah, Firmino, and Sadio Mane, coming to a stage in their career where their value will only decrease because of their age.
"But also because Salah is the only one who is now consistently performing at a level that can justify the type of contract that he and his representatives are asking for."
To sell or not to sell Castles provided some additional information. Liverpool, he claims, is now "actively marketing" both Mane and Roberto Firmino.
"They're now actively marketing two players now that Diogo Jota is well established in the lineup and Luis Diaz has been signed," Castles said.
The journalist also believes that the signing of Diaz has given Liverpool an advantage if they are unable to find buyers for the two players and instead wish to extend their contracts.
"I believe that strengthens their position by putting pressure on Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino." It weakens those two players' negotiating positions when it comes to contract renewals if they can't find clubs they want to go to," he concluded.
It remains to be seen whether either player can find a market. Many of Europe's biggest clubs are still struggling to recover from the financial impact of Covid. A move to another Premier League club, on the other hand, would be unthinkable.
