Arsenal may find it difficult to sign Bukayo Saka to a new contract if they miss out on Champions League status next season, given Manchester City and Liverpool's desire.
The two Premier League giants have been closely tracking the England international's progress and are expected to make a summer move, since his contract expires in 2024.
Both clubs are interested in signing the Arsenal prodigy, according to ESPN. He has been a standout this season for the Gunners after his heartbreaking moment in the Euro 2020 final shootout. When asked about the interest in Saka, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta highlighted that the 20-year-old winger earned it via his dedication and hard work.
"I think that's wonderful news," Arteta said in January, "when you have a lot of conversation and people wanting [to transfer] for your players, it's a really good indicator."
‘’They should be proud because that shows they're doing a fantastic job." I'm incredibly pleased with Bukayo and what he's doing, how he's progressing, and how important he is to the team.
"Most significantly, he has the ability to make an impact in each game. We want to continue to improve on this in each game because he has the ability to do so."
Contenders for the Champions League
Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United, and West Ham are vying for the final Champions League slot, with Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea poised to earn the top three spots.
The Red Devils are now in fourth place with 38 points, followed by West Ham with 37 points, Arsenal with 36 points, and Spurs with 36 points each. Due to postponements, none of these four teams have played the same number of games.
There's still a long way to go in the fourth battle, which could determine Saka's fate.
