After the visitors could only half-clear their lines, the ball dropped to the Spaniard just outside the box, and he rifled home a thunderous strike that eluded Luis Maximiano between the sticks.
Real now has the opportunity to put pressure on the chasers, while Granada is in 16th place and faces relegation to the second division as a result of their defeat.
